Breaking News: Norwich City Part Ways with Key Figure Following Difficult Start to Season.

Norwich City have parted ways with manager Johannes Hoff Thorup after a disappointing start to the 2024-25 season, winning just one of their first five league matches. The Canaries, who had ambitions of pushing for promotion, find themselves in the lower half of the Championship table, prompting the club to act swiftly.

Thorup, who took over in the summer of 2023, failed to deliver consistent performances, with Norwich struggling in both attack and defence. The team’s recent form, including a frustrating home draw with newly promoted Plymouth Argyle and a painful defeat to rivals Ipswich Town, led to mounting pressure on the Danish coach.

In a statement, sporting director Stuart Webber expressed his gratitude for Thorup’s efforts, saying, “We thank Johannes for his hard work and commitment during his time here. However, with the results not meeting our expectations, we believe a change is necessary to get the club back on track. The search for a new manager is already underway.”

Thorup leaves the club in 16th place with only four points from five matches. Frustration among the Norwich fanbase had been growing due to the lack of defensive solidity and the team’s failure to replicate their form from previous seasons.

The club’s assistant manager, Glen Riddersholm, has been appointed as interim manager while Norwich conduct their search for a permanent replacement. Riddersholm, a fellow Dane with extensive coaching experience, will be tasked with steadying the ship as the Canaries look to recover their season.

Several names have already been linked to the vacancy, including former Norwich boss Daniel Farke, as well as experienced Championship figures like Chris Wilder and Lee Bowyer. Norwich City will be aiming to secure a new manager quickly, with hopes of reigniting their push for Premier League promotion.

Riddersholm’s first match in charge will be a crucial test as the Canaries seek to turn their season around.
